WILLIAMSVILLE, NY (PRWEB) August 02, 2017
Counsel Financial announced this week that it will host the largest annual fundraising event for the Mikey’s Way Foundation again in 2017. The law firm financing company has pledged its support of the Drive for Dreams benefit for eight successive years and is proud to be heavily involved in the pediatric cancer foundation.
The Mikey’s Way Foundation is one of the only charitable organizations that provides services to pediatric cancer patients “in the moment,” while they are in the midst of undergoing treatment, enduring procedures and ultimately navigating the trying road to a cure. It does so by distributing internet-ready electronics and gaming devices to help create connection to the outside world within the isolation of a hospital. Children are encouraged to select the device they feel will work best for them, providing a distraction from the daunting world of testing, diagnoses and treatment. The electronics help connect them with family, friends and school through the use of technology such as Skype and FaceTime, as many kids are removed from everyday life for long periods of time.
Since inception in 2005, Mikey’s Way has reached over 5,000 pediatric cancer patients nationwide across 43 hospitals located in 15 states.
The two-day Drive for Dreams affair, comprised of a gala and golf tournament, will kick off on Sunday, August 6. Over 400 guests will enjoy a night of high-end auctions, a moving presentation on the mission and achievements of the Foundation and comedy by NYC-comedian, Chris Monty. Then, on Monday, August 7, golfers will take to the course at Brookfield Country Club in Clarence, New York for 18 holes of fun, food and drinks. All proceeds from the event go directly toward funding “Mikey’s Way Days,” which cost an average of $5,000 to fully stock the Mikey’s Way Connection Cart for each visit.
The team at Counsel Financial encourages a mindset of community involvement and all of the staff is eager to step up and volunteer their time and talents to this worthy cause. Megan Payne, COO, stated, “Counsel Financial is a proud supporter of the Mikey’s Way Foundation. It’s a great cause and you’re able to see the immediate impact on these children fighting for their lives as a direct result of the charity’s efforts. Our entire team is invested in helping to further the Foundation’s mission.”
