DrivingHistory.com to Educate People About Driving License Scam Artists
Denver, CO (PRWEB) December 20, 2013 -- DrivingHistory.com is going to publish a guide that will explain how scam artists can use driver's licenses for fraudulent reasons, the company announced yesterday.
“Because a driver's license is the most accepted form of identification in the United States, they are a powerful tool for scam artists,” a DrivingHistory.com spokesman said. “But most people just take them at face value. We want to educate our customers about how they can be used as part of a scam.”
One of the most common ways that scam artists use driver's licenses is by pretending to be someone they are not, he said.
“Whether it's to cash a check or apply for a job, sometimes a driver's license is all people ask for,” the DrivingHistory.com spokesman said. “But that can lead to fraud very easily. It's not that hard to get a driver's license in someone else's name if you are an experienced scam artist. But there are ways to verify those licenses, and we want to show people exactly how to do that.”
The guide will also explain how driver's licenses are used to set up phony bank accounts, impersonate people during the online dating process, and take advantage of security issues, he said.
DrivingHistory.com will publish the guide on the members' area of their site. In the future the information will also be released through their social media outlets and blog, he said.
