Beverly Hills, CA (PRWEB) March 28, 2016 -- According to a March 22 article on Radar Online, reality TV star Rob Kardashian, who has lost a great deal of weight, is planning on obtaining a surgery to “remove the excess skin that has been left behind after he lost so much weight so quickly.” Beverly Hill-based plastic surgeon Payam Jarrah-Nejad, M.D., F.I.C.S., F.A.C.S., known more casually as Dr. J, notes that Mr. Kardashian’s apparent situation is anything but unusual. Loose skin following a major weight loss is typical and expected, Dr. J notes, and the most common reasons for this kind of dramatic and relatively rapid weight loss include both successful bariatric surgeries and childbirth. The most frequent solution, he notes, is the body contouring procedure popularly known as a tummy tuck.
Dr. J notes that while tummy tucks are often obtained for cosmetic reasons – and there’s no denying that most patients find loose folds of skin highly unsightly – that is not the only reason why someone who may have lost a large amount of weight might be motivated to opt for a tummy tuck. Not surprisingly, large folds of skin are not only a damper on a person’s self-confidence; they can also often be physically uncomfortable for patients to carry around with them.
Of course, Dr. J adds, tummy tucks, liposuction, and similar procedures are also often obtained by patients who are simply trying to improve their appearance, or who may have relatively small amounts of loose skin and fatty tissue to deal with following a pregnancy. Dr. J adds that whether a patient is simply trying to look and feel more normal following a major weight loss or trying to make the most of their “beach body” appearance so they can feel more confident, plastic surgery is a safe and effective means for both women and men to live the happiest, healthiest life that they can.
Dr. J also adds that, while Rob Kardashian might be a reality TV star and a member of the wealthy and notorious Kardashian family, it’s important to remember that plastic surgeries are obtained by people from all walks of life. Teachers, accountants, construction workers and many others have benefitted from procedures, Dr. J adds. He also notes that it’s not necessary to be wealthy to obtain plastic surgery, noting that whether or not a patient ultimately decides on having a procedure is rarely determined by the issue of cost.
