Author Patrick Coggins’ New Book Honors Tuskegee WWII Pilots
Deland, FL (PRWEB) January 22, 2014 -- The implications of segregation on the African-American soldiers of WWII are brought to the surface in author Patrick Coggins’ new book, “Tuskegee Airman Fighter Pilot: A Story of an Original Tuskegee Pilot Lt. Col. Hiram E. Mann” (published by Trafford Publishing).
Coggins met two Tuskegee airmen in 1994, later learning their heroic acts of WWII had gone unrecognized for almost 40 years.
“Tuskegee Airman Figher Pilot” follows the story of Lt. Col. Hiram Mann – an original fighter pilot – who completed more than 50 successful air missions in WWII, earning him a Congressional Medal of Honor in 2008.
The book is “a tribute to African-American fighter pilots who never lost a bomber,” the author says. Coggins wants readers to appreciate the efforts of these little-known fighter pilots, whose lives were so heavily affected by discrimination in their time.
