Drucker + Falk Teams Makes 2018 A Summer of Giving
RICHMOND, Va., HAMPTON ROADS, Va., RALEIGH, N.C. (PRWEB) October 04, 2018 -- The teams at DF Multifamily, a business unit of Drucker + Falk, extended their company-wide Day of Giving philanthropic initiative into a Summer of Giving for the Virginia Hampton Roads, VA and Raleigh, NC regions. In Virginia, philanthropic activities were highlighted by helping Samaritan House and The Kings Daughters Children’s Hospital. In Raleigh, the DF Multifamily teams extended financial support and volunteered with Shepard’s Table, an organization dedicated to feeding the homeless. The participation of DF team members with these organizations are representative of the exemplary altruistic commitment by the company.
Working closely with the Hampton Roads Apartment Council (HRAC) and Samaritan House, a non-profit organization that provides emergency shelter and housing support to victims of assault, domestic violence and homeless families, DF Multifamily and Venture Apartments at Tech Center employees worked together to lead the efforts to repair several safe houses in the Hampton Roads area. And, as part of the Living It Up Historic Downtown tours, over thirty DF employees worked helped to orchestrate and raise funds for the event to benefit Kings Daughters Children’s Hospital, a vital part of the Hampton Roads community since 1896.
“We are so proud of the work our teams do in the community but in particular for these two organizations (Samaritan House and The Kings Daughters Children’s Hospital), as they directly touch the lives of so many families and children in greater Hampton Roads.” According to Wendy Drucker, Managing Partner with Drucker + Falk, one of the nation’s leading property management and commercial real estate companies headquartered in Newport News, VA.
For Samaritan House, the DF teams coordinated six truckloads of donations from employees and business partners who donated time, labor, products, and services to make the Samaritan safe house renovations possible. For the Kings Daughters Children’s Hospital, over 30 employees worked tirelessly over six months to help to plan and support all aspects of Living It Up, a fund-raising event that resulted in over 400 ticket sales and $85,000 in donations.
According to Eve Fuze, Marketing and Events Coordinator at Samaritan House, “We were blown away by the commitment to the cause and the efficiency of the work completed. We did a walk-through at a time when one of the families had just come home. The young kids were jumping up and down, barely able to contain their excitement to show us ‘their new rooms.’ It was truly a special, heartwarming moment.”
Lisa Coleman, Executive Director of The King’s Daughters commented, “This event was a great collaboration, and its success great for children and families in our community. We were so impressed with the boundless commitment from the teams at DF Multifamily and the executive management at Drucker + Falk. They were a big part of what made the Living IT UP event such a success for CHKD’s Mental Health initiative. We could not have done it without them.”
“It is great to work for a company with such as strong sense of family and community. The Day of Giving initiative has proven to be a great way to encourage our team members to give back to the communities we serve,” adds Tarra Secrest, Director of Marketing and Property Development for DF Multifamily.
For Shepherd’s Table in Raleigh, various members of the DF Multifamily team volunteered their time on multiple occasions to serve meals to the homeless in the Triangle area. Shepard’s Table depends on over 5,000 volunteers nationwide and each month create over 250 hot meals a day from over 8,000 pounds of donated food.
According to Lisa Price, Assistant Director of DF Multifamily in Raleigh, “Shepherd’s Table is an incredible organization and we are very honored and humbled to have the opportunity to serve with them as we have over the years. It is always a very rewarding experience for our teams.”
The effort to work with HRAC, Samaritan House, Kings Daughters Children’s Hospital and Shepherd’s Table is part of the year-round Day of Giving program where Drucker + Falk employees are awarded additional paid time off to make a difference in their communities. Along with working with these three organizations, DF Multifamily and its team members have given time, donations and services many other charitable organizations throughout the southeast and mid-Atlantic region.
Wendy Drucker concludes, “I want to give a special thanks to all of the many DF Multifamily team members in the Hampton Roads and Raleigh region and the unyielding support of the Drucker + Falk corporate office who helped to ensure that our participation makes a difference."
