A Saguenay alcohol and drug rehab center is launching a program to help adolescents stop LSD addiction through services available at Drug Addiction Treatment Centers.

Information from a Government of Canada website indicates that LSD "is a hallucinogen that is commonly referred to as 'acid.' It is manufactured from lysergic acid, which is made from a fungus that grows on rye and other grains. Pure LSD is a white, odorless, and slightly bitter crystalline powder. It is very potent: pure LSD the size of a small pill is enough for approximately 3,000 doses. On the street, LSD is most often sold as 'blotters' or 'blotter acid': small squares of LSD-soaked blotting paper (absorbent paper), each containing one individual dose of LSD. Blotters are often printed with colorful illustrations or cartoon characters. However, LSD can also be sold as a powder, as capsules or as tablets."

Drug rehabilitation lets adolescents begin a road to recovery, getting them off of LSD totally. A part of this process is detoxification, cleansing out the physical body that has been filled with mind-altering substances. Drug detox’s main goal is to rid the body of chemical toxins.

Once this process takes place, then counseling and therapeutic methods can enter into play. More times than not, there are real-life issues for which a person has used drugs to escape from those issues. Some of those might include physical, emotional, spiritual or mental abuse. Drug rehab allows clients time to discern and figure out what is their truth around these situations.

Counselors and therapists with many years of experience in the field of substance abuse treatment and addiction can help make the transition from addiction to recovery easier. These drug rehab staff members can rely on their personal and professional experiences with addiction to offer compassion and support to recovering individuals working to overcome their addictions.

Staff and clients are able to exchange stories of shared experiences, which will let recovering individuals know they are not alone in their journey. The relationships formed between recovering individuals and staff members provide a strong support network that offers strength and guidance during the recovery journey, throughout the transition to life outside of treatment and as recovering individuals adjust to sobriety.

Entering and going through drug rehab can become a life-changing journey for any person serious about kicking their habit. For more information on Drug Addiction Treatment Centers, visit or call 581-333-0846.
