Cornerstone Recovery Center Announces Expansion of Addiction Relapse Prevention Programs
Fort Lauderdale, Florida (PRWEB) September 09, 2014 -- Cornerstone Recovery Center in Ft. Lauderdale provides addiction recovery programs that are tailored to help clients stay sober even after completing treatment. Programs are customized to provide individual plans, but all include relapse prevention and an aftercare plan. Cornerstone utilizes the successful and respected GORSKI-CENAPS Model for relapse prevention. The GORSKI-CENAPS Model, developed by Terence T. Gorski, consists of a 9-step process for identifying and stopping the early warning signs of relapse. Early warning signs of relapse can be a very slow and subconscious progression that the recovered addict may not recognize on his or her own. Cornerstone’s addiction recovery therapist Barbara Hernandez, MS, LMHC explains, “Using the GORSKI-CENAPS Model for relapse prevention is one of the key tools that helps our clients remain clean and sober in the long-term.”
Cornerstone recently added even more support to its relapse prevention program to help recovering addicts stay sober. This past year, Cornerstone started an alumni program with monthly meetings. Each month, one alumni member addresses the group and shares his or her story. The speaker from the previous month chooses the next month’s speaker. The inspiring stories of fellow alumni provide inspiration to others in the group. These monthly alumni meetings allow for sharing stories, celebrating sobriety milestones, reconnecting with old friends, and asking for or receiving assistance if needed. Cornerstone also recently implemented a 24-hour alumni hotline dedicated to providing alumni with support, help finding an AA or NA meeting, or just someone to talk to.
Cornerstone Provides a Nurturing Environment for Maintaining Sobriety after Program Completion
Many people struggling with addiction are attracted to Florida since there are many recovery programs all over the state. Some of these very large facilities may not provide the personalized care that some people need to help them through recovery, or a support network after the initial treatment program is completed. Cornerstone maintains a 7:1 client-to-staff ratio. The smaller, close-knit atmosphere at Cornerstone works very well for those in need of a facility with a comprehensive aftercare program and relapse prevention planning.
Family and friends of alumni also have access to additional support via Cornerstone’s Family Night events that are held twice a month. The caring addiction specialists and professionals at Cornerstone facilitate a warm and welcoming environment so past program graduates always have a place to go, and family members can gain a better understanding of addiction, treatment, and how to support their loved one through it.
