Houston Personal Injury Lawyer at Smith & Hassler Comments On Deadly Eastex Freeway Accident
Houston, TX (PRWEB) September 06, 2013 -- Responding to a news report of a recent alleged drunk driving accident, Houston personal injury attorney Albert M. Hassler III said it’s important for drivers to remember the serious consequences that can result from poor decisions while driving.
Your Houston News (“Passenger dies in alcohol-related car accident,” August 20) reported that a fatal car crash occurred around 6 a.m. on a recent Sunday in mid-August, leaving a 25-year old passenger dead as a result of his injuries.
“While this accident is reportedly under investigation, in Houston and throughout Texas we see drunk driving tragedies happen far too often,” said Hassler, whose firm represents victims of negligence and families whose loved ones were killed in accidents. “It’s not uncommon to read about drunk driving accidents that result in serious injuries to drivers, passengers, and innocent victims who are sharing the road. As personal injury lawyers, we have seen first-hand the devastating impact of drunk driving accidents. That’s why we fight for victims, and we support educational and legislative efforts to keep intoxicated drivers off the roads.”
According to Your Houston News, the driver of a white Cadillac Deville was traveling northbound on the Eastex Freeway when it changed lanes and crossed the median. The story said that the Cadillac was then struck by a tractor trailer. The Cadillac spun out of control and struck a freeway shoulder divider, according to the report.
In addition, Your Houston News reports that although several people were believed to be inside the vehicle, two fled the scene of the accident. Police said that evidence obtained at the accident scene indicates that alcohol might have been a factor in the accident.
“Drunk driving accidents are avoidable. No one should become a victim of an impaired driver or lose a loved one in a drunk driving accident,” said Hassler, a car accident lawyer in Houston. “Some drivers, however, make the reckless decision to get behind the wheel after having too much to drink. They must be held accountable if they cause injury or death. Personal injury lawyers help protect the rights of victims. These cases are about getting compensation and closure for the victim and sending a message that drunk driving will not be tolerated in Texas.”
