NAANTALI, Finland (PRWEB) May 07, 2019 -- DuPont’s Naantali manufacturing site has been awarded the Cosmetic ‘Good Manufacturing Practices’ (GMP) Certification, an important marker of excellence and indicator of quality, it was announced today. The GMP certification falls under the International Standardization Organization’s (ISO) 22716 Guidelines on Good Manufacturing Practices, which helps ensure consistency and superiority in the manufacturing process for personal care products.
The production facility in Naantali produces natural betaine, best known as the essential ingredient in GENENCARE® OSMS BA – an osmolyte that enables moisturization and protection while providing sensorial advantage in personal care formulations.
“This is an important signal to our customers and the cosmetics manufacturing industry at-large that we care deeply about quality and providing best-in-class products,” said Johan Jansen-Storbacka, Global Personal Care Industry Leader from DuPont Nutrition & Biosciences.

Osmolytes – like the betaine produced in Naantali – contribute to skin protection, not only by protecting cells from dehydration, but also by preventing skin proteins from denaturation. For instance, when skin is stressed by external aggressions (UV radiation, heat or cold environments), the water balance of skin cells is disturbed. Osmolytes have evolved in nature to manage skin water balance, reduce water stress and protect the living organism.
This certification comes after the completion of the Life Cycle Assessment of GENENCARE® OSMS BA, as an example of continuity of DuPont’s commitment to look at business goals in the framework of providing more sustainable solutions to customer challenges.
