High Performance Meets High Fashion: DuPont™ Sorona® Collaborates with Women’s Fashion Brand Cushnie et Ochs at New York Fashion Week
New York (PRWEB) September 06, 2013 -- As excitement around New York Fashion Week begins to stir, DuPont™ Sorona® fiber takes its front row seat by announcing a new design collaboration with women’s fashion brand Cushnie et Ochs, which is showcasing conceptual designs made with DuPont™ Sorona® down its runway today.
Cushnie et Ochs embodies Minimal Edge, known for their sharp, sexy silhouettes. For their chic and versatile Spring 2014 collection, Carly Cushnie and Michelle Ochs looked to create a collection that speaks to the quintessential modern woman. To complement their collection, the design duo used versatile, easy-to-care-for, and supremely wearable fabrics enhanced with Sorona® to create five pieces that will appeal to fashion frontrunners. The experimental collection featuring Sorona® fiber includes a black, sliced, one-piece swimsuit, a pale gray fitted strap jacket, a violet-purple dress, a white double-belted feather weight flare skirt and a black side belt wide leg pant.
“We’re always looking to find new and creative ways to express our vision for sultry and alluring designs,” said Carly Cushnie, designer and co-founder of Cushnie et Ochs. “Working with materials that are enhanced by the softness and durability of Sorona® affords us a level of creative freedom that doesn’t compromise that vision.”
DuPont™ Sorona® fiber appeals to designers who place a high value on quality and the ability to respond quickly to changing market needs. The production of Sorona® requires 30 percent less energy and reduces greenhouse gas emissions by 63 percent compared to the production of an equal amount of nylon. By replacing a traditionally petrochemical-based ingredient with one made with a renewably sourced material, designers can offer their clientele high fashion with an eye toward sustainability.
“Innovation and collaboration are part of the inherent strength of DuPont™ Sorona®,” said Kathryn Lee, global marketing manager for DuPont™ Sorona®. “Our collaboration with Cushnie et Ochs is a great demonstration of the design possibilities achievable with Sorona® renewably sourced fibers.”
Fabrics made with DuPont™ Sorona® fiber are available through independent fabric mills around the world. The fabrics featured in this collection are by SBTex Co. Ltd. (Korea), Taesung Intertextile Co. Ltd. (Korea), Textile Tech Enterprise Co. Ltd. (Taiwan), Tricot Liesse (Canada) and Zhejiang Taihua New Material Co. Ltd. (China).
