In “Chronic Mental Illness: A Living Nightmare” (published by AuthorHouse), authors Eace Bee; Honey Bee; and Priscilla Bee present a story that showcases the talents of Eace, who was diagnosed with thought disorder at the age of 16. His mother, Priscilla, shares their story, along with advice, strategies and tactics for recovery and stabilization.

Priscilla says that their aim is to tell their story rather than be the subject of stigma: “Advocacy is our mission. This book was written to showcase my son’s work and represent him as a real human being with feelings and talent. Do not define or judge Eace by his illness.”

The book covers a myriad of issues that currently affect the mentally ill: the perception of mass murders being linked to mental disorders; incarceration and recidivism rate of the mentally ill; homelessness; and a general lack of resources.

The authors hope that their story will help bring about awareness and curb discrimination: “There are more mentally ill persons found in our jails and prisons than in our hospitals. Due to the dire need for adequate housing, too many of the mentally ill live on the streets and are homeless.”
