Edie Becker Sets Fictional Ghost Story in Real Setting
Escondido, Calif. (PRWEB) August 28, 2013 -- For three years, author Edie Becker lived in what she believed to be a haunted house. The ghosts of young Civil War soldiers inhabited the home, playing pranks and roaming up and down her stairs. The experience inspired her debut novel, “The Guard Hill House Mystery” (published by iUniverse).
“I lived the experience,” says Becker. “Many of the frightening things I experienced myself.”
When Jamie Escobar opens a mysterious email from his best friend Michael’s sister, M Forester, he is disturbed to learn that no one has heard from Michael. M begs him to come quickly to the sleepy Southern town of Front Royal, Va. Upon arriving, Jamie begins to question the residents, but few are willing to talk. The only thing he knows for sure is that Michael’s house, the Guard Hill house, is haunted. Both he and M expect the worst, and as they both experience near fatal accidents, they wonder if Michael succumbed to the house- and will they be next?
An excerpt from “The Guard Hill House Mystery”:
“He is enjoying the drive when after a few minutes his thoughts turn to the strange e-mail he received just before leaving home. It was from someone named M Forester claiming to be his friend Michael’s sister. The woman wrote that Michael had left home several months ago and no one had heard from him or knew where he was. She then asked if he had heard from him.”
Becker gives readers a thrilling ghost story with twists and turns to keep them guessing. She writes, “I would like readers to consider that the supernatural can be explained by the spirits that remain in that house where they have passed, but are still trapped, still marching in cadence.”
