eDirectGlass (eDG), the definitive industry leader, innovator, and disruptor of automotive glass repair and replacement (AGRR) technology and services, today announced that it is launching virtual assistant services for its Total Shop Management (TSM) point-of-sale and shop management system that provides voice-automation and feedback. eDG has integrated with the Amazon Alexa Voice Service (AVS) to provide Amazon Echo owners the ability to simply ask it certain questions relating to information or services found in TSM.
Starting November 1, 2015, TSM subscribers will initially be able to ask “Alexa” questions such as “how many jobs do I have scheduled for today/tomorrow/specific date” or “what was my total sales for today/this week/this month” and more. In order for TSM subscribers to utilize this service initially, they must have the Amazon Echo, which is a cloud-powered artificial assistant that is always on and listening for questions or commands. Future versions of the TSM virtual assistant services will only require a device with speakers and a microphone that is connected to the Internet such as a tablet, desktop computer, etc.

In addition to Alexa, eDG is also releasing the ability for other virtual assistants such as Apple’s Siri, Goggle Now, and Microsoft’s Cortana to provide the same experience from either a smart phone or Internet-connected computer. Availability for these platforms is slated for a December 1, 2015 release date.

Beginning January 1, 2016, eDG will launch features allowing consumers, using the virtual assistant of their choice, to obtain glass replacement quotes, schedule service work, and more. eDG continues to offer the industry the convenience of choice, coupled with most innovative and the technologically advanced features to remain successful and profitable,” concluded Hart.
