Alcohol & Drug Rehab Edmonton Launches Program Aimed at Helping High School-Aged Adolescents Stop Alcohol Addiction
Edmonton, Canada (PRWEB) January 06, 2014 -- An Edmonton alcohol and drug rehab center is launching a program geared toward high school-aged adolescents and reducing their alcohol addiction problems through Alcohol Addiction Treatment Centers.
Statistics from the Canadian Centre on Substance Abuse indicate that "48.1 percent of ninth-graders report using alcohol in the past year, 58.2 percent for 10th-graders, and 75.1 percent for 12th-graders."
Obviously, the statistics indicate that alcohol use and inevitable abuse skyrockets as these high school adolescents continue into the 12th grade. The new program being launched takes a view of what is happening in a student's environment, both in school among his or her peers and teachers along with what's happening at home.
Many times, there can be a correlation between both areas and how it affects an adolescent.
Alcohol rehabilitation lets adolescents clean up from alcohol addiction. A part of this process is detoxification, cleansing out the physical body filled with mind-altering substances. Detox’s main goal is to rid the body of chemical toxins.
Counseling and therapy then starts after detox. Real-life issues are present that a person has used alcohol to hide, repress or deny within themselves. Some issues might include physical, emotional, spiritual or mental abuse. Rehab gives clients time to discern and figure out what is their truth around these situations.
Counselors and therapists with many years of experience in the field of substance abuse treatment and addiction can help make the transition from addiction to recovery easier. These rehab staff members can rely on their personal and professional experiences with addiction to offer compassion and support to recovering individuals working to overcome their addictions.
Staff and clients are able to exchange stories of shared experiences, which will let recovering individuals know they are not alone in their journey. The relationships formed between recovering individuals and staff members of the Edmonton alcohol rehab center provide a strong support network that offers strength and guidance during the recovery journey, throughout the transition to life outside of treatment and as recovering individuals adjust to sobriety.
