BOSTON, Feb. 7, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Education Pioneers, a national nonprofit that has recruited 4,000 professionals with diverse skills and backgrounds into non-teaching leadership positions throughout K-12 public education, announced today that applications are open for the 2019 Education Pioneers Impact Fellowship.
The organization is seeking equity-oriented data analysts and strategic project managers to join the second class of the 10-month leadership development program, scheduled to begin in Fall 2019. Launched in January 2018 and designed to advance the movement for equity and excellence in U.S. schools, Education Pioneers' Impact Fellowship catalyzes high-potential leadership talent while adding critical analytic and project management capacity to school district, charter school organizations, and other education organizations nationwide.
"With work that is complex and high stakes, the education sector needs more leaders who can effectively diagnose problems, collaborate to generate solutions, and ultimately drive more equitable outcomes for our nation's most underserved students," said Melissa Wu, CEO of Education Pioneers. "Our Impact Fellowship enables schools and education organizations to have access to the data and project management talent they need, and supports aspiring education leaders to find meaningful, long-lasting career pathways."
During the program, Impact Fellows are connected to a 10-month paid work placement with a leading education organization, where they apply their data and project management experience to support organizational initiatives. Simultaneously, Fellows engage in cohort-based professional development, where they gain K-12 education knowledge and practice leadership skills. Fellows become part of Education Pioneers' nationwide network of education leaders, which includes 4,000 Alumni at all stages of their careers – 70% of whom continue to work in education.
Forty-five rising leaders are currently participating in the Impact Fellowship's inaugural class. "The learning and connections I'm building through the Impact Fellowship push me to reflect on the inequities of education and my own experiences. Through my work placement and discussions with professionals in the education sector, I feel better prepared for a career leading change on behalf of students and communities," said Helen Lee, a 2018 Fellow at Tulsa Public Schools and former private sector manager. 65% of 2018 Impact Fellows have prior private sector experience; 55% of 2018 Fellows identify as leaders of color.
