EFS Energy Educates LaSalle Middle School Students on Renewable Solar Energy
St. Louis, MO (PRWEB) January 27, 2015 -- EFS Energy gave a presentation last week to a group of honor students at LaSalle Middle School in order to discuss renewable solar energy. Paul McKnight, founder and CEO of EFS Energy, reviewed the photovoltaic process required to create the energy producing cells found in solar panels as well as the effects solar power has on the environment. The presentation was given on January 15.
In partnership with Kathleen Engel of Ameren Pure Power, the discussion focused on wind, solar, LED lighting, and energy efficiency standards and answered questions such as "how much does solar power cost?" Kathleen Foster, Director of PR and Marketing at EFS Energy, prepared the presentation and was in attendance as well.
"These gifted students were really bright kids that had some great questions and ideas. Each class was very involved in the presentation," Foster said. Each student is currently working on a project involving designing an energy efficient office building using 25 different components.
Examples of the ideas the students are considering for their project include higher efficiency LED light bulbs and solutions for generating sustainable, renewable power when the sun isn't shining. One student theorized placing panels on the office's lobby floors in order to utilize friction from walking to build energy. "It’s brilliant, very futuristic ideas they came up with," Foster said.
EFS Energy is scheduled to give another renewable energy presentation to gifted students next month at Wildwood Middle School. EFS Energy believes these talks are essential to ensuring the future of renewable energy by providing a platform for education. "The students we get to work with really are the future of renewable energy," McKnight said. "It's great to hear students' interesting and innovative ideas. The opportunities and education available to their generation is unlike anything we've seen before."
