Electronic Insurance Card Can Be Used At Traffic Stops

Many drivers forget to replace the insurance card in their wallet from year to year which can be compromising at a traffic stop.

Longwood, Florida (PRWEB) September 25, 2013

Teachers Insurance Specialists, a Horace Mann Company, announce the availability of electronic insurance cards on mobile devices. Florida insurance policy holders can now download the Horace Mann mobile app, establish a login and password for their account and have access to their electronic insurance ID card 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

Simone Baldwin owner/agent of Teachers Insurance Specialists explains, “We are thrilled to be able to offer this app to our Florida insurance policy holders. With this mobile access, should a driver get pulled over, all they need to do is log into their insurance account on their mobile device and show the officer their insurance card electronically. It will save time and aggravation for both the office and driver.”

According to the Property Casualty Insurers Association of America on August 23, 2013, Florida is one of 28 states to have adopted the e-card laws and/or regulations allowing drivers to show proof of insurance with their smart phone during traffic stops. The Property Casualty Insurers Association of America reports that three more states including Michigan, Ohio and Pennsylvania are still in legislation on electronic insurance cards.

“For years, insurance providers in the State of Florida have distributed those paper insurance cards to show proof of insurance. Many drivers forget to replace the insurance card in their wallet from year to year, which can be compromising at a traffic stop. Making Florida insurance policies accessible via mobile devices certainly enhances the likelihood we will get more interaction with our Florida insurance policy holders. People now may take initiative to call their insurance agent with questions and make policy changes if they know they can access their insurance policy on their phone as opposed to digging for paperwork. It’s the world we live in, people embrace technology. In my experience, people are more inclined to engage with a company if they can do so via a mobile device,” adds Baldwin.

Teachers Insurance Specialists offer a variety of insurance products to both educators and non-educators in the State of Florida. Car insurance policies represent a large percentage of policy holders for Teachers Insurance Specialists.

“We have many Florida drivers who also insure their motorhomes with us as well as purchase an insurance policy for their golf cart and/or motorcycle. We offer insurance on boats and pretty much any marine vessel as well. With our mild Florida temperatures year round there really is no down-time for recreational vehicles so most of our insurance policy holders keep their insurance current year round,” explains Baldwin.

In addition to motorcycle, boat, golf cart and car insurance, Teachers Insurance Specialists also offers life insurance policies and homeowners insurance policies to Florida residents. They provide flood insurance as well.
