Ellery LaFavor Advocates for Child Abuse Victims in New Book
Swainsboro, GA (PRWEB) March 26, 2014 -- A former victim of child abuse, author Ellery LaFavor spins a troubling coming-of-age tale about an abused and tormented boy named Ace in his new novel, “A Child with a Broken Heart: Trapped – Book 1” (published by iUniverse).
“This book is about every ‘Ace’ who is struggling to find light at the end of the tunnel,” LaFavor says. “It’s difficult to read this kind of subject matter, but I want to inspire every reader to become a champion of the youth.”
Ace is a heartbroken young boy who is subjected to frequent beatings at the hands of his drunk, domineering father. In school, Ace navigates a never-ending barrage of bullies, questions and sexual uncertainty. He then tries to rise above not only those who drag him down, but also his inner demons.
LaFavor weaves his story around the motif of using one’s dark past as a powerful, secret weapon only available to oneself. He explores how his own negative experiences gave him the strength to feel others’ pain and give them vision to get through the tough times.
“Growing up, I didn’t know there were many people who shared my story,” LaFavor says. “Once I allowed myself to see beyond my own miseries I realized my dark past serves a greater purpose. I want the abused to know exactly how to leverage their endurance, pain and suffering to better the world around them.”
