Enrollment for Expert Access, a No-Cost Second Opinion Program by the CLL Society and Powered by InfiniteMD, Now Open
The grant-based patient advocacy program returns for its second year with free access to the nation's top hematologic oncologists via virtual consultations
BOSTON, June 25, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The CLL Society, a non-profit organization supporting patients with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), and InfiniteMD, a leading provider of virtual expert opinions from top U.S. specialists, is pleased to announce the opening of the 2019 Expert Access program.
The Expert Access program connects participants with physicians that are highly recognized experts in the treatment of CLL, via HIPAA-compliant remote consultations. The service is offered to them at no cost.
In 2018, the program was able to cover consultations for 120 participants, which included a review of their individual cases and medical records, a live video consult, and a written report of the physician's recommendations to share with their treating provider.
This year, the program has expanded its enrollment capacity by twenty-five percent to 150 consultations.
"The goal of the CLL Society Expert Access Program is to improve patient access to expert care, which is often impeded by geographic remoteness or other barriers," said Dr. Brian Koffman, Founder of the CLL Society. He was diagnosed with CLL in 2005 and created the nonprofit as a beacon of support for others affected by this form of leukemia.
Christopher Lee, PhD, Co-founder of InfiniteMD, said, "We've received wonderful feedback from participants on how easy they've found the process. InfiniteMD is pleased to be partnered with the CLL Society in continuing to make the Expert Access program possible."
To enroll in Expert Access, visit the CLL Society. Enrollment is open on a first-come-first-served basis for those diagnosed with CLL and residing in the U.S. A generous grant from Verastem Oncology makes the Expert Access program possible.
