In light of a recent outbreak of severe respiratory illness likely caused by enterovirus D68, reported by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), targeting children around the nation, Air Scrubber Plus with ActivePure technology, offers the only environmental technology that is proven, with the highest level of scientific validation, to actually reduce bacteria and other contaminants in the air and surfaces of the home.

Enterovirus infections are common in the summer and fall and cause about 10 to 15 million infections in the United States each year, according to the CDC. Although most people infected with these enteroviruses do not get sick or experience only a mild illness, infants and people with weakened immune or respiratory systems can have serious complications.

Officials suspect the virus is human enterovirus D68, which is related to the common cold. Outbreaks currently seen in Missouri, Kansas, Illinois, Kentucky, Iowa, Colorado, Ohio, Oklahoma, North Carolina and Georgia are expected to spread across the nation, as children are going back to school.

"Our technology underwent rigorous testing at Kansas State University, and is effective in reducing organic and microbial compounds, bacteria and viruses," said Tom Lozano, executive director of Air Scrubber Plus. "Air Scrubber Plus is a helpful tool proven to clean the indoor environment."

The Kansas State University study, led by Dr. James Marsden, also found that the technology was effective at reducing the following: MRSA (99.8% reduction), Staphylococcus aureus (98.5% reduction), Escherichia coli (E. coli, 98.1% reduction), Anthrax Family (99.38% reduction), Streptococcus spp. (96.4% reduction), Pseudomonas aeruginosa (99% reduction), Listeria monocytogenes (99.75% reduction), Candida albicans (99.92% reduction), and black mold (99.93% reduction). The study was conducted on stainless steel surfaces in a controlled airflow cabinet.

Air Scrubber Plus works via a combination of light, oxygen and water molecules reacting together and passing through the honeycomb cell coated with a proprietary formulation of non-nano titanium dioxide and other highly reactive metals. This Advanced Oxidation Process produces superoxide ions, hydroxyls and hydrogen peroxide, which in turn clean the air and surfaces indoors, reducing or eliminating dangerous viruses and bacteria in the home and office environment.
