Eos Energy Storage Strengthens Leadership to Prepare for Future Growth with Two Executive Appointments

The energy storage market is growing exponentially. Leaders like Balki and Nathan are going to be key catalysts to help Eos serve the greater need to deliver on our promise of scalable clean energy storage solutions. I am excited to welcome them both to the Eos family.

Eos Energy Storage, the leading manufacturer of safe, low-cost and long-duration zinc battery storage systems, is proud to announce the appointment of two new executives who will join the management team to help drive the future of Eos. Dr. Balakrishnan G. Iyer (Balki) has been named Chief Commercial Officer and Mr. Nathan McCormick joins the company as Senior Vice President of Operations.

“Eos is at a critical pivot point having achieved significant milestones in our R&D and engineering. We are now bringing in management talent to prepare for company’s next phase. The company will immensely benefit from Nathan’s experience in leading large manufacturing centers and Balki’s successful track record with commercializing business to help scale the business,” commented Joe Mastrangelo, CEO of Eos. “The energy storage market is growing exponentially. Leaders like Balki and Nathan are going to be key catalysts to help Eos serve the greater need to deliver on our promise of scalable clean energy storage solutions. I am excited to welcome them both to the Eos family.”

McCormick has spent the last 25+ years in the power generation equipment industry and U.S. Army. He served for nearly 20 years in senior manufacturing, demand management, and sourcing leadership positions at General Electric. While at GE, Nathan was notably responsible for all manufacturing activities for U.S.-built steam turbines and generators. In addition to driving safety and quality improvements while meeting and exceeding production targets, he created a culture of competitiveness to improve product cost and productivity by using lean and digital tools. In 2019, he transitioned to the smaller private equity backed segment when he became the EVP and GM of Ioxus Inc., a startup ultra-capacitor company where he prepared the company for growth while operationalizing it. "I’m excited to join the EOS team as we launch the new commercial product and transform energy storage. The opportunity to scale our supply chain to support the growing demand is energizing and I’m proud to be part of a team delivering a safe, renewable, American-made energy storage product."

A passionate recognized leader in clean energy, Iyer joins Eos where he will leverage 20+ years of leadership experience and expertise in the energy industry driving business development for global conglomerates. He previously held executive roles at GE, Enel, Vestas, and Schlumberger, where he led commercial activities globally and successfully steered three startups from inception to successful exits, with investments from some of the largest utilities and financial investors worldwide.

“I have spent the last several years both in GE and as an entrepreneur to help expedite the growth of renewables in the grid. Over the past few years, there has been a growing importance of Stationary Energy Storage in pushing the renewable industry forward on both innovation and scale,” said Iyer. “The opportunity to work with a team of this caliber was a key factor in my decision to join Eos, and I look forward to expanding the business and meeting our ambitious plans ahead.”
