Occupational Training & Supply Announces Course Offerings to meet EPA Lead Renovator Recertification Deadline
Willowbrook, IL (PRWEB) February 23, 2016 -- Whether it’s flowing in drinking water or present in paint when buildings are being renovated, lead exposure is hazardous. Renovators must ensure that their lead paint certification is still valid by March 31 and can take a refresher class through Occupational Training and Supply (OTS).
When firms perform renovations, repairs and painting projects that disturb lead-based paint in homes, child care facilities and preschools built before 1978, the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Lead Renovation, Repair and Painting Rule requires that they are certified by the EPA or an EPA authorized state. Firms are required to use certified renovators who are trained by EPA-approved providers and follow lead-safe work practices.
“For the past 25 years, it has been my purpose to help keep companies, workers and their clients knowledgeable, safe and compliant in laws and best practices,” said Kathy DeSalvo, president of Occupational Training and Supply. “Lead poisoning in children is a serious issue that we all need to be aware of.”
Certified Renovators who completed initial training on or before March 31, 2010, must renew their lead paint training certifications before the deadline of March 31, 2016. In order to renew the certification, they must take a 4 hour refresher class. Occupational Training and Supply (OTS), an EPA accredited training provider, offers these classes on a weekly basis in both English and Spanish at their facility in Willowbrook, Ill. If the class is not completed before the initial certification expires, the renovator will be required to complete the initial eight-hour class again.
For more than 25 years, OTS has provided quality training through knowledgeable instructors, live demonstrations, state-of-the-art equipment, and hands-on training. OTS is the Midwest leader for environmental, health and safety training and distributor of safety and renovator supplies, and travels nationally to provide custom training to fit any industry needs.
