Cass County is pleased to offer the convenience of e-recording for selected Register of Deeds documents including all mortgages, mortgage discharges and mortgage assignments.

Michigan’s Cass County is now accepting electronic documents for recording through Simplifile, the nation’s largest e-recording service, providing customers with a faster, more efficient online recording method.

E-recording is the method of submitting, receiving, and processing documents such as land records for recording online, which have been traditionally submitted by mail, runner, or courier service.

“Cass County is pleased to offer the convenience of e-recording for selected Register of Deeds documents including all mortgages, mortgage discharges and mortgage assignments,” said Cass County Clerk and Register Monica Kennedy. “The time and cost savings to the customer has already proven to be beneficial to both the processor as well as our office here in Cass County.”

Using Simplifile’s secure, web-based service, customers such as title companies, banks, and legal offices can electronically prepare or scan and upload documents and send them securely through Simplifile directly to Kennedy’s office for recording in minutes.

“I can assure you that Simplifile has been wonderful up to this point and we look forward to a continued working relationship,” Kennedy added.

Recording fees and payments can also be processed securely through Simplifile, eliminating check-writing expenses and reducing payment errors.

“We’re honored to be working with Cass County and providing this easy-to-use, cost-effective technology to their customers,” said Paul Clifford, president of Simplifile. “E-recording securely streamlines the entire recording process from start to finish.”

Cass County joins 29 other e-recording counties in Michigan that have implemented Simplifile’s e-recording service. Nationwide, more than 1,235 recording jurisdictions e-record with Simplifile.

High-speed Internet access, a PC, and a scanner are the minimum requirements for customers to begin e-recording with Simplifile.
