Michigan expands Simplifile e-recording in Eaton County

Eaton County’s register of deeds has implemented electronic recording (e-recording) of documents through Simplifile, the nation’s largest e-recording service, giving customers a cost-effective, online recording option.

“We decided to get into e-recording because of the time it saves and because it enhances service to our customers. This convenient service eliminates mailing costs and paper waste, among countless other benefits," said Eaton County Register of Deeds Diana Bosworth. "I urge all of our customers to use e-recording for the ease of use and the fast document turnaround time.”

Using Simplifile’s secure, web-based service, customers ranging from title companies to banks, attorneys, and lien filers, have the ability to scan or upload and submit documents directly to the register of deeds’ office and have them recorded, stamped, and returned electronically in minutes.

“We’re excited to be working with Eaton County and to help provide their local customers with this easy-to-use, cost-effective service,” said Paul Clifford, president of Simplifile. “E-recording makes a night and day difference when it comes to the turnaround time for recorded documents and helps to eliminate paper.”

Customers also have the ability to track and view the status of their documents that have been submitted through Simplifile, making it easier and more cost effective to correct and resubmit any rejected documents.

With the addition of Eaton County, there are now 33 counties in Michigan that have adopted e-recording with Simplifile.
Nationwide, more than 1,275 counties also e-record with Simplifile.

High-speed Internet access, a PC, and a scanner are the minimum requirements for customers to begin e-recording with Simplifile.
