Kalamazoo County Announces New E-recording Technology
KALAMAZOO COUNTY, Mich. (PRWEB) July 01, 2014 -- Electronic recording (e-recording) in Kalamazoo is now available to the county’s recording customers through Simplifile, the nation’s largest e-recording service, providing a faster, more efficient recording option.
“Not having additional paper documents is a great help to our staff,” said Kalamazoo County Clerk and Register of Deeds Timothy Snow. “We can respond very quickly to a submitter if there is an issue with one of their documents and get a rejected document recorded much more quickly than relying on the mail or other paper delivery service.”
With Simplifile’s web-based service, customers can scan, upload, and submit documents online, where the clerk’s office is able to receive, review, stamp, record and return the documents back to the submitter electronically in minutes.
According to Snow, his office is currently accepting all document types for e-recording with the exception of warranty deeds needing a tax clearance, which they anticipate accepting in the near future.
“This year we hope to connect with a variety of e-recording submitters to begin the process that I am sure will continue to grow over time,” Snow added.
Other benefits of e-recording include increased document security, less paper waste, and fewer check-writing expenses, as recording fees and payments are processed electronically through Automated Clearing House.
Kalamazoo County joins 20 other Michigan e-recording counties that have implemented e-recording with Simplifile, helping customers like title companies, banks, attorneys, and other document submitters save time and money on recording.
High-speed Internet access, a computer, and a scanner are the minimum requirements for customers to begin e-recording documents through Simplifile.
