LAURENS COUNTY, S.C. (PRWEB) August 20, 2014
Laurens County has implemented electronic recording (e-recording) of land documents with Simplifile, the nation’s largest e-recording service provider, making it easier and more cost-effective for customers to record deeds, mortgages and other types of documents electronically.
“The availability of e-recording brings many cost-saving benefits for both Laurens County and our legal community,” said Laurens County Clerk of Court Lynn Lancaster. “Simplifile has been great to work with, and we are excited to provide customers with this technology to record their documents online.”
Recording customers ranging from title companies and attorneys to banks and lien filers will now be able to quickly scan, upload, and submit documents to the clerk’s office using Simplifile’s web-based service and have them reviewed, stamped, recorded and returned in minutes.
“Customers who e-record no longer have to rely on the mail. They also receive immediate notification of any document rejection reasons or payment errors, allowing them to correct and resubmit the documents right away,” said Paul Clifford, president of Simplifile. “It’s by far the most secure, efficient method for document recording and we are excited to have another South Carolina county implement this service.”
Less overall paper waste and check-writing expenses are also some of the benefits of e-recording, as recording fees and payments can be processed through Simplifile via Automated Clearing House (ACH).
Laurens County joins seven other e-recording counties in South Carolina including Beaufort, Berkeley, Greenville, Horry, Lexington, Richland, and York counties.
Across the nation, more than 1,120 recording jurisdictions e-record with Simplifile.
High-speed Internet access, a PC, and a scanner are the minimum requirements for customers to begin e-recording with Simplifile.
