Peoria County Recorder Starts E-recording with Simplifile
PEORIA COUNTY, Ill. (PRWEB) August 19, 2015 -- Peoria County has implemented electronic recording (e-recording) of documents through Simplifile, the nation’s largest e-recording service, giving customers a cost-effective, online recording option.
“We have been waiting to e-record for over five years. We were unable to e-record with the software we had, so when the time came to acquire a new software vendor, e-recording was our guiding focus,” said Peoria County Chief Deputy Recorder Marsha Livers. “Our county has experienced budget constraints and is operating with a reduced workforce. E-recording was a logical means that would allow us to work smarter with less people.”
Using Simplifile’s secure, web-based service, customers ranging from title companies to banks, attorneys, and lien filers, have the ability to scan or upload and submit documents directly to the recorder’s office and have them recorded, stamped, and returned electronically.
“We have only been e-recording for three weeks and we have already seen improved productivity and efficiencies and nearly eliminated incoming and return mail,” Livers said.
Instead of having to send documents by mail or drive to the county, customers now benefit from a much faster, more convenient recording option online that saves them time and money.
“We are able to process e-recorded documents much quicker than those sent to us through the mail,” she added. “Better yet, we are able to communicate with the submitters about any issues we have with the document, and as a result, get them corrected in minutes rather than weeks.”
Customers also have the ability to track and view the status of their documents that have been submitted through Simplifile, making it easier and more cost effective to correct and resubmit any rejected documents.
According to Livers, her office records over 300 different types of documents—the majority of which can be e-recorded.
With the addition of Peoria County, there are now 21 counties in the Illinois that have adopted e-recording with Simplifile.
Nationwide, more than 1,270 counties also e-record with Simplifile.
High-speed Internet access, a PC, and a scanner are the minimum requirements for customers to begin e-recording with Simplifile.
