Our partnership with Simplifile will allow people to record documents in our recording department without having to drive to Columbiana or use the mail or other delivery service.
SHELBY COUNTY, Ala. (PRWEB) January 09, 2014
Simplifile, the nation’s largest electronic recording (e-recording) service provider, is now available in Shelby County, Ala., expediting and automating the recording process for the probate judge office and its customers.
“It is always my goal to meet our citizens’ needs in a way that is convenient and economical to them,” said Shelby County Judge of Probate Jim Fuhrmeister. “Our partnership with Simplifile will allow people to record documents in our recording department without having to drive to Columbiana or use the mail or other delivery service.”
With the option to record documents electronically through Simplifile’s web-based service, customers including title companies, banks, law offices, and lien filers can save time and money on paper and mailing fees, as documents can be recorded in minutes by e-recording.
“Submitting documents by mail or courier service for recording can often take several days or weeks in comparison to just a few minutes with e-recording,” said Paul Clifford, president of Simplifile. “Without question, having this technology available will bring countless benefits to both Shelby County and its recording customers, making it faster and easier than ever to record important public documents.”
In addition to processing documents electronically, recording fees and payments are also processed electronically through Simplifile’s service, eliminating the need for customers to write and mail checks to the county.
E-Recording also helps to reduce payment errors as well as the number of rejected documents.
Shelby County is the third Alabama county to offer Simplifile’s e-recording service to customers.
“Of course, our recording counter will remain open and we welcome the opportunity to help everyone that prefers to do their recording business in person or by mail,” Fuhrmeister added.
To start e-recording, customers need high-speed Internet access and a scanner to scan and upload the documents for electronic submission.
