Our goal is to deliver better services to our customers at a lower cost and e-recording is a modern tool that allows us to meet that goal.

Electronic recording (e-recording) in the Town of Windsor is now available through Simplifile, the nation’s largest e-recording service, providing faster, more efficient recording of land documents.

“The Town of Windsor, like most other municipalities, is looking for ways to provide new services for a public that are technologically driven,” said Windsor Town Clerk Anna Posniak. “Our goal is to deliver better services to our customers at a lower cost and e-recording is a modern tool that allows us to meet that goal.”

With e-recording available, title companies, banks, attorneys, and other document submitters will be able to electronically prepare, scan, or upload documents and submit them to the clerk’s office for recording through Simplifile’s secure, web-based service in minutes.

“The land recording process will become faster and more efficient, which ultimately is a benefit both the clerk’s office and the customer,” said Posniak. “In addition, there is a cost savings for postage for both parties as the documents will no longer be delivered by traditional means.”

Recording fees and payments can also be processed securely through Simplifile via Automated Clearing House (ACH), eliminating the need for submitters to write and mail checks.

“Simplifile made the implementation process extremely stress-free,” Posniak added.

According to Posniak, the clerk’s office is currently accepting all land documents with the exception of deeds and maps.

“We’re excited to provide customers who record documents in the Town of Windsor with our e-recording service. It’s easy-to-use and so much more convenient than sending documents through the mail or having to drive to the clerk’s office to record in person,” said Paul Clifford, president of Simplifile.

High-speed Internet access, a PC, and a scanner are the minimum requirements for customers to begin e-recording with Simplifile.

With the addition of e-recording in the Town of Windsor, there are now 28 towns in Connecticut that have adopted Simplifile’s e-recording service, joining more than 1,185 recording jurisdictions nationwide that e-record with Simplifile.
