ESI Roundtable Announces 2nd Annual Hands-On Training Workshop
Birmingham, AL (PRWEB) August 11, 2014 -- On August 28, 2014, ESI Roundtable (ESIRT) will host its 2nd Annual Hands-On Training Workshop in Birmingham, Alabama and provides law firm and corporations with eDiscovery training as well as the opportunity to dive into the most relevant and practical eDiscovery technologies available. The event originated when several attorneys approached ESIRT about designing a new way to experience eDiscovery technology outside of the standard sales meetings, trade shows and demos.
R. Jordan Wood, an associate at Christian & Small LLP stated, "The 2013 Hands On event was a unique experience as it provided a much more practical and engaging approach to both E-Discovery and traditional Continuing Legal Education. The speakers were well selected, covering issues currently existing in E-Discovery litigation, and providing practical advice and materials that coud be used in our day-to-day practice. The breakout sessions with the service providers gave us the opportunity to personally interact with some of the top E-Discovery products in the market, allowing us to feel much more educated about which provider may best suit our particular needs. As a result, the Hands On event was beneficial for both those new to E-discovery as well as those who were already well versed."
Hands-On is a one-day conference with up to 8 hours CLE credit, including ethics. Speakers from various ESI Roundtable cities will present topics requested most by attendees of ESIRT programs including:
• Data Security/Privacy presented by Alex Khoury, Esq. of Balch & Bingham in Atlanta
• BYOD presented by Carrie Fowler, Esq., Discovery Counsel of Regions Financial in Birmingham
• Authentication presented by Hon. David J. Waxse, U.S. District Court of Kansas City
• Budget Planning presented by Randy Girouard, P.M. of Bradley Arant Boult Cummings in Birmingham
However, the highlights of the event are the four breakout sessions with providers. Each provider will have their own conference room, and attendees can participate in a each of the 70-minute training session held by each provider. Attendees are encouraged to BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) so they can log in to the platforms and test drive the products in a classroom-type setting with instruction from the providers. Providers who will lead the breakout sessions this year are Kroll Ontrack, Logikcull, Nextpoint and Paragon.
“The Hands-On Training Workshop is an opportunity for attorneys, paralegals, and litigation support staff and to test-drive eDiscovery technology like they test-drive a car before they buy it,” shared Melissa Rogozinski, President of ESI Roundtable.
Learning about technology (eDiscovery), according to ABA Model Rule 1.1, Comment 8, is an ethical obligation. However, 95% of legal services professionals are underserved with eDiscovery resources. ESI Roundtable's Hands-On Training Workshop assists in providing an introduction to a practical application to these resources.
