eSSETS Adds Depreciation Module, System/Component Hierarchy Enhancements to Its Cloud-based Asset Management Software
Springfield, Missouri (PRWEB) August 29, 2013 -- eSSETS (http://www.essets.com), a leader in cloud-based asset, facilities and maintenance management solutions, announces several product enhancements to their Cloud asset management software. One new feature is a depreciation module and single asset register, closing the knowledge gap between fixed asset accounting and facility and maintenance management systems. Often, the accounting department has one asset register for depreciation purposes and the facilities department has a separate asset list for preventive maintenance. Reconciling departmental discrepancies can be a major pain point. Collaborating on a single asset register that is shared and maintained by both departments closes this gap, increases administrative efficiency and improves accuracy. The asset register becomes a perpetually maintained inventory of fixed assets, instead of a static report relying solely on initial purchase records.
Another eSSETS product enhancement that is more focused on engineering-oriented facility managers now allows components of a system to be identified through a parent/child hierarchy. For example, a rooftop HVAC unit (RTU) can be comprised of a compressor and condenser coil. Each component can have its own serial number and warranty coverage period. The RTU is listed in the top level of the asset register, but can be expanded to show the brand, model and serial number of all its components. For more complex machinery, this parent/child hierarchy can continue along multiple levels (system>component>sub-component). Granular tracking allows component lifecycle activities, warranties and costs to be monitored independently from the system they are a part.
“We already provided a Places hierarchy concept which allowed logical groupings by organizational units and the breakdown of properties and facilities into areas, spaces and rooms. The asset hierarchy further compliments the logical organization of everything under the facility managers purview,” said Paul Roberts, eSSETS Founder & CEO.
Enhancements to asset list views with keyword searches, filtering by asset type, by Place and by person responsible, along with new graphical dashboard “gadgets,” all combine to give the facility manager unprecedented ease in finding specific information to support action. Accessibility from mobile devices, such as tablets and smartphones, helps deliver the right information at the right time. The ability to capture information with mobile devices eliminates delays by updating asset records as actions (service requests and preventive maintenance), while also eliminating paper processing and transcription.
