Jim Ellis Chevrolet Embraces Yet Another Alternative Fuel
Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) July 22, 2013 -- Jim Ellis Chevrolet jumped out early and embraced EV (electric vehicle) technology and in fact, is the only dealership in Georgia that has a solar EV charging station. These efforts have propelled Jim Ellis Chevrolet to the leader in Chevrolet Volt sales in Georgia. Now, Jim Ellis Chevrolet is embracing Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) that is available as a fuel source in Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra pick-up trucks.
With CNG, General Motors has reduced fuel costs and environmental impact by utilizing the fuel to power pickup trucks such as the Bi-Fuel Silverado/Sierra HD Extended Cab. The truck is equipped with a 17 Gas Gallon Equivalent CNG tank in addition to its 36-gallon gasoline tank for a combined range of more than 650 miles.
Driving a CNG vehicle reduces smog forming and greenhouse gas emissions as well as gasoline costs. The gas is domestically produced and reduces carbon dioxide emissions by 30 percent. It is also safer in the event of an accident as it dissipates into the air rather than pooling on the ground like gasoline.
CNG is currently available at several stations in Georgia, including American Fueling Systems' Alternative Fueling Facility, which opened in October of last year. Located at 4420 Buford Highway in Atlanta, the facility is the largest in Georgia and the first to be located in a high traffic area. The station has formed an alliance with Jim Ellis Chevrolet.
"We are proud to be expanding Jim Ellis' offerings of alternative fuels. The abundance of CNG in the United States speaks for itself and could be a way for America to enhance its independence on foreign oil, "said Mark Frost, General Manager of Jim Ellis Chevrolet. "The only thing slowing down the process is the infrastructure that will allow for easier availability of CNG for our customers. We are encouraged that more and more stations are starting to offer CNG."
