The Protective Group Comments on Arkansas Teachers Training to be Registered Security Guards
Bohemia, NY (PRWEB) August 01, 2013 -- On August 1, The Protective Group comments on an article published by Fox News on July 30 titled “Arkansas school district training more than 20 teacher, staff as armed security guards” regarding recent developments being made by Arkansas school administrators to protect students by training staff members as security guards.
John Monderine, CEO of the Protective Group, says, “Training teachers in security practices might be a good idea because it provides an extra layer of security for students and staff. Even though a majority of schools have no history of violence, taking any preventative measures is a positive move. However, hiring more experienced security personnel should be a first choice.”
According to the article published by Fox News, a small community in Arkansas will soon see teachers and other staff carrying concealed weapons as trained, registered security guards. The small town of Clarksville AK, does not have a history of violence in its schools, but has recently decided to step up security to prevent any such incident from occurring.
The article says the plan calls for over 20 staff members, including school teachers, to undergo “53 hours of training” to be considered fully-trained security guards.
Monderine says, “I do believe that this is a good idea, yet at the same time, it may be more beneficial to hire security guards who have years of experience under their belts rather than attending a course on top of a busy work load.”
