The Protective Group, provider of security guards, talks about the heightened security for Little League World Series and Grand Slam Parade as discussed in an article by The Patriot-News.

On August 2, The Protective Group, provider of security guards, discusses the plans to increase security at the Little League World Series and Grand Slam Parade in Williamsport, Pennsylvania on August.

According to an article published by The Patriot-News on July 29, 2013 titled, “Enhanced Security Planned for Little League World Series, Grand Slam Parade,” the president and CEO of Little League stated that the reason for the planned increase of security is partly due to the tragedy at the Boston Marathon.

John Monderine, CEO of The Protective Group, says many organizations are taking extra precautions because of the Boston bombings. “What happened at the Boston Marathon has a lot of people worried about safety,” he says. “At big, important events like the Little League World Series, it’s important to think of the safety of attendees. You want to make sure the event runs smoothly and that everyone is safe.”

The article says that Little League World Series attendees will not notice many security changes. Visitors will continue to pass through metal detectors in order to gain access to the complex. Some of the items that the article sites as being prohibited include large coolers, large bags, weapons, skateboards, containers with liquid and umbrellas that are 42 inches or larger. Another step taken to increase event security includes installing more surveillance equipment.

“Attendees understand that security is there to protect them, it is helpful to people to know what items are prohibited so that event goers can plan accordingly,” he says. “When event goers see a strong security presence, they will often feel more comfortable and will have a more enjoyable experience at the event. It is important to strike a good balance with security. The Protective Group strives to have enough security to protect everyone without preventing people from enjoying themselves.”
