Flood Law Group Actively Investigating Claims in light of Expanded GM Recall
Washington, D.C. (PRWEB) April 09, 2014 -- Flood Law Group announced today that they are actively investigating claims on behalf of anyone whose vehicle was recently announced as an affected model by the expanded General Motors ignition recall.
According to a report from The Washington Post (GM expands ignition-switch recall, 3/28/2014), GM expanded the recall to include an approximate total of 2.6 million cars after coming under pressure from federal and congressional investigations, as well as a mounting number of lawsuits.
According to the report, the recall expansion added 971,000 vehicles worldwide, 824,000 of those in the US, and is aimed at retrieving just 5,000 ignition switches that could have been use to repair affected Chevrolet Cobalts, and other small cars that were absent from the previous recall.
According to a report from USA Today (Senator: GM engineer lied over deadly ignition switch, 4/3/2014), the major focus of the congressional inquiry into the ignition defects has been why it took GM so long to initiate the recall in the first place. According to the report, thirteen deaths and 32 crashes have been attributed to the defect.
“Automakers have a responsibility to protect the safety of consumers,” said Christopher Brown, Director of Communications for Flood Law Group. “Our lawyers are investigating potential GM ignition switch lawsuits on behalf of people who allege they were injured as a result of a faulty ignition switch.”
The following vehicles have been affected by the recall:
All 2005-2007 Chevrolet Cobalt and Pontiac G5, 2003-2007 Saturn Ion, 2006-2007 Chevrolet HHR, 2005-2006 Pontiac Pursuit (Canada), 2006-2007 Pontiac Solstice and 2007 Saturn Sky vehicles. On March 28, 2014, the recall was expanded to include: 2008 – 2010 Pontiac Solstice and G5; 2008-2010 Saturn Sky; 2008-2010 Chevrolet Cobalt; 2008-2011 Chevrolet HHR.
