Meritus Health Selects Explorys’ Big Data Analytics Platform to Support Its ACO Initiatives
Cleveland, OH (PRWEB) February 10, 2014 -- Explorys, the leader in big data-driven healthcare transformation, today announced that Meritus Health, a 257-bed, acute-care, non-profit hospital located outside of Baltimore, MD, complemented by 16 primary and specialty physician practices, has selected Explorys’ Enterprise Performance Management (EPM) Application Suite to support its Accountable Care Organization (ACO) initiatives. The Explorys Network, comprised of nearly 205 billion clinical, financial, and operational data facts, will empower Meritus Health with insight into patterns and trends that enable rapid transformation of care and will support it, and its employed and private practice providers, transition from a fee-for-service model to a value-based care model.
Meritus Health experienced the same challenges that many organizations face today, including having disparate health information systems in use across the ACO, which is made up of 199 providers throughout 40 offices. Many of these practices use different EHR systems and some use paper medical records, which makes it difficult to report ACO performance. Explorys’ cloud-based big data analytics platform will provide Meritus Health with a unified approach to big data management, connecting the different systems and practices and enabling accurate, reliable population health management across the continuum of care.
“As we transition into an ACO, population health management is our top priority,” said Shelley Grant, ACO Program Director, THP-Meritus Health ACO. “After reviewing multiple big data applications, we selected Explorys for its ability to report ACO quality measures and compare benchmarks across its larger network. By leveraging the Explorys platform, we will easily and confidently be able to administer a shared savings methodology and calculate savings distribution across our organization.”
After implementing Explorys’ EPM Application Suite, Meritus Health will create one unified data system that aggregates population health data from all of its different programs, giving Meritus the ability to report on ACO performance by provider, office, and ACO levels. This unified care management platform is estimated to minimize manual data abstraction to less than 30%.
“As more and more organizations move toward value-based care models, like ACOs, we have seen greater demand than ever before for our suite of big data solutions, which is enabling innovative organizations like Meritus Health to gather deeper insight into their own data,” said Stephen McHale, CEO, Explorys. “As a truly forward-thinking organization, Meritus Health recognized the need for the real-time curation of data to better predict and understand costs to support its ACO initiatives. Meritus’ collected data will be a proud addition to the ever-growing Explorys Network, and will create enormous opportunities for collective insight -- ultimately reshaping patient care and reducing healthcare costs.”
Explorys will be demonstrating its platform and applications at the Healthcare Information Management Systems Society (HIMSS) 2014 Annual Conference and Exhibition from February 24-26, 2014 in Orlando at booth #3083. Meritus Health will also be attending the conference and will be available to discuss how it plans to use the Explorys big data analytics platform to achieve its ACO goals.
