Ex’pression College Graduate Wins 2014 Northern California Emmy Award
Emeryville, CA (PRWEB) August 04, 2014 -- Ex’pression College graduate Amanda Mantchev was the recent winner of an Emmy Award from the San Francisco/Northern California Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences for her graphic work on the Comcast SportsNet Bay Area video segment “2013: A Year to Remember.”
“The Emmy win was a total team effort,” says Mantchev. “Everyone who was involved in the video’s production – from the winners to the incredibly talented people whose names weren’t on the ballot - definitely deserves recognition for their hard work and amazing talent.”
Mantchev was born and raised in Las Vegas, NV. She was drawn to drawing and painting growing up, and experimented with screen printing on t-shirts, making etchings on glass, and printing on tiles as part of a Digital Printing class that she took while attending Palo Verde High School. After her graduation in 2008, she began researching art colleges on the West Coast, and after hearing about Ex’pression College from a family friend, attended an open house event at the Emeryville campus.
“I loved the work environment at Ex’pression, and I was especially impressed by how quickly I could earn my degree and begin my career,” says Mantchev. “Once I began pursuing a Bachelor's Degree of Applied Science in Motion Graphic Design in 2008, it was obvious that Ex’pression’s instructors were all knowledgeable, approachable, and very supportive of the students. They also gave students a clear and accurate idea of what it would be like once we entered the working world, and what would be expected of us. Because of this, I feel that I was employment-ready, and very well-prepared for an entry-level job.”
Mantchev’s talent impressed her Ex’pression instructors, and thanks to a faculty recommendation, Mantchev was able to land a full-time position at Comcast SportsNet Bay Area as a Motion Graphic Designer as soon as she graduated in 2010.
“The recipe for what I’ve been able to achieve is quite simple: I worked hard,” says Mantchev. “Whether it’s at Ex’pression or in your job, you have to want to be there and be passionate. It doesn't matter if you're just working on making a Power Point presentation move or adjusting keyframes, you have to find what you love about a project and be proud of it. There are no short cuts: it's up to you to do the best job you can and put your education, training, and creativity to good use.”
