Fairhaven Health is accustomed to helping couples achieve pregnancy, but this holiday season, Fairhaven Health is teaming up with Tuberville to help feed the hungry. From November 10 through 17, Fairhaven Health will donate 5 percent of all online sales to Tuberville, a unique non-profit that grows potatoes and donates them to local food banks.

“We’re very excited to be supporting Tuberville this holiday season,” said Kelly Andrews, CEO of Fairhaven Health. “They do wonderful work, and hopefully we can help extend their reach a bit more through this promotion.”

Tuberville began in 2004 when Peter Perkins, a retired teacher, decided to plant a few rows of potatoes for the local food bank in Vermont. He harvested the six rows of potatoes and donated them to the Chittenden Emergency Food Shelf. Ten years later, the small organization continues to grow. In fact, Tuberville has donated 100,000 pounds of produce to the charitable food system in Maine and Vermont, and continues to expand its reach to different parts of the globe including Pakistan, Costa Rica, Colombia, and Cambodia.

"Fairhaven Health’s offer to support our work has already had amazing impact in our ability to assist neighbors this holiday season," said Ralph Perkins, founder and co-director of Tuberville. "Because of their support, we are able to extend our reach into another state this year by partnering with the Contoocook Potato Project to distribute over 42,000 pounds of potatoes throughout New Hampshire. Most of these potatoes will make their way into holiday baskets put together by 15 – 20 food shelves around the state. We are lucky to have a Kelly Andrews and Fairhaven Health working with us as we share a common understanding of family and community."

Anyone who wants to get involved can purchase crops, donate money and materials, volunteer their time, and help spread the word. Fairhaven Health challenges everyone to donate to the cause and help feed families in need this holiday season.
