COSTA MESA, Calif., Nov. 8, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Centria Autism, the nation's largest provider of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy for children with autism, today announced the opening of a new therapy center in Costa Mesa. The 5,357 square foot facility is Centria's first therapy center in the state of California. Serving up to 100 children with autism in Orange County, the center will help meet the growing demand for autism therapy services.
Earlier this year, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) reported that the prevalence of children with autism has increased to 1 in 59 nationwide. Additionally, a 2016 study by Chapman University revealed that Orange County leads the state of California with the highest number of children with autism. The study found that nineteen percent of individuals in Orange County between the ages of three and 22 years old in special education have autism.
"As the need for autism therapy services soars, we're proud to support the autism community in Orange County and help these amazing kids reach their fullest potentials," said Rick Loewenstein, Chief Strategy and Growth Officer at Centria Healthcare. "Our specialists are available to help every step of the way, from screening to diagnosis to providing individualized one-on-one ABA therapy."
Centria began serving Orange County families in 2016 by providing in-home ABA therapy to children with autism. ABA therapy is the single most effective treatment for children with autism and the only treatment shown to lead to substantial, lasting improvements in the lives of children with autism. It has been endorsed by the U.S. Surgeon General and the American Academy of Pediatrics, among others.
Centria has also hosted several free community events throughout the state of California including Superhero Autism Activity Day in Anaheim, where more than 400 children with autism enjoyed a superhero meet-and-greet, photo booth, face painting, arts and crafts, snacks, games, and more.
Centria's new ABA Therapy Center is located at 151 Kalmus Drive, Suite L-1, Costa Mesa, CA 92626. Leading Centria's California team will be Victoria Taylor, BCBA, Regional Clinical Director and Sofia Lineberg, Operations Director. For more information, please visit http://www.CentriaAutism.com.
