The NFEC’s Monthly Family Finance Articles Published by Red River Family and Rio Grande Family Magazine
Albuquerque, NM (PRWEB) November 19, 2013 -- The National Financial Educators Council’s Family Finance article for November is published by Red River Family and Rio Grande Family Magazine. This month’s article teaches parents the importance of starting a bank account for their child and tips on discussing personal finance lessons.
From the article, “When parents help their children open savings accounts, they open the door to teaching important financial literacy skills. As you review your child’s account statements each month, use the opportunity to discuss concepts like interest, the benefits of saving, deposits, and account management. Getting a handle on these concepts will give your child a significant advantage as he or she grows into adulthood.”
Members of the National Financial Educators Council’s Personal Finance Speakers Association write articles for the Family Finance section of Red River Family and Rio Grande Family Magazine. The NFEC’s members have passed the Certified Financial Education Instructor coursework and possess the skills and expertise to teach money management.
Surveys by the NFEC have shown that many families do not talk about money. The monthly featured article in these publications is designed to help families open up the line of communication about personal finance. This has allowed the NFEC to build off their financial literacy PSA - The Talk – which encourages families to have the talk with their kids about money.
“We commend Rio Grande Family and Red River Family Magazine for providing access to important financial lessons. Financial illiteracy is at epidemic levels and we commend the publisher for helping to improve the financial capabilities of the families that read their publication,” states NFEC’s CEO Vince Shorb.
