NBA and NCAA Basketball Fans Nationwide Use Sports Meetup App FanWide to Find Local Viewing Parties
Seattle, WA (PRWEB) November 08, 2016 -- FanWide Technologies Inc. (http://www.FanWide.com) is a Seattle-based sports technology startup that organizes viewing parties for sports fans of every team throughout the country. FanWide is the first social network designed to connect millions of sports fans with other supporters of their favorite team at local bars and restaurants that are guaranteed to be featuring their game with sound. In just eight weeks of operations, FanWide has promoted over 5,500 NCAA Football and NFL viewing events for alumni groups and fan clubs nationwide. This week FanWide will start hosting National Basketball Association (NBA) and Division 1 NCAA Basketball (NCAAB) viewing parties for every team throughout the country.
“FanWide’s founders are passionate college basketball fans, and after promoting games locally we were inspired to create a simple way to bring NBA and NCAA Basketball viewing parties to the masses through an app,” said Symon Perriman, President and Founder of FanWide. “FanWide helps sports fans in every city to get together to watch their favorite pro and college sports team in bars nationwide. Restaurant managers can also use FanWide’s tools to bring in new patrons, boost sales, advertise to locals, and predict viewing party attendance to help with staffing.”
The FanWide team came up with the idea for the company after moving to Seattle after graduation from Duke University about a decade ago. As work transplants, they found that attending and promoting basketball viewing parties for the Seattle alumni club was a great way to connect with other local fans with the same background and interests. However, the team found it was inefficient to organize, and even though they would bring up to a hundred fans to every event, the bars were always understaffed and unprepared. Over the next decade, the team became engineering leads at Microsoft, Google and Amazon, and ran several startups. They were always traveling, yet hated trying to find their game on a TV in the hotel. The team realized that sports fans in every city worldwide needed an easy way to get together to watch their team play, and that venues would pay for them to fill their seats, so FanWide was created.
FanWide launched its website and mobile app this September for the tens of millions of sports fans in the US that are traveling, or live out-of-market, from their favorite team. Using the FanWide app or website they can find the closest viewing party in a sports bar that is guaranteed to be featuring their game with sound. Every week venues use FanWide to see how many local fans there are in the area, and choose which teams they want to host from a list of upcoming games. Venues in every city then bid head-to-head against each other in an auction for the right to host that game, and we bring them the fans.
FanWide Technologies Inc. was founded in 2016, and has grown to over twenty staff members. To support its rapid growth and popularity, FanWide has just launched its Series A investment round, under Section 506(c) of Regulation D, to allow accredited investors and institutions to acquire equity in units priced at $25,000 each.
