The Jacksonville personal injury law firm of Farah & Farah obtained a $2 million trial verdict this month on behalf of the plaintiff, who was seriously injured and underwent multiple surgeries after a severe tractor-trailer crash.

The personal injury legal team at Farah & Farah is proud to announce the successful recovery of $2 million in damages for an injured truck accident victim. The case, #16-2009-CA-018804 was heard in Duval County Circuit Court.

The Case

According to court documents, the crash occurred on February 2, 2008 on the Dames Point Bridge in Jacksonville. The plaintiff, then a 47-year-old male, was rear-ended by a 12-ton tractor-trailer and sustained injuries to his shoulder, neck and back. He has undergone neck surgery (cervical fusion) and shoulder surgery (rotator cuff repair and shoulder anchor to repair damage) and may need lower back surgery. He has chronic shoulder, neck and lower back pain as a result of injuries caused by the crash. The plaintiff will require lifelong medical treatment for his neck and back injuries.

As a result of the crash, the plaintiff, a retired member of the Navy who works as a mail handler for the U.S. Postal Service, lost time from work to get treatment for his injuries. However, he still holds his job and is currently still working.

The trucking company admitted liability for the crash, according to court documents.

Recovering Rightful Compensation after an Accident

Being involved in an injury accident can create undue burdens for the accident victim, especially financial. Recovery is dependent on access to medical treatment, which is typically expensive. If a victim’s injuries make it impossible for him or her to work and earn wages, affording the proper medical care can be problematic. In the event the accident was caused by the negligence of another, damages may be pursued through a personal injury claim and the compensation received can ensure financial stability during the recovery process.

Depending on the circumstances of the particular case, compensation may be obtained for loss of income, medical bills, future medical treatment, rehabilitative care, pain and suffering and others. Without this compensation, recovery after an injury accident may be very difficult.
