Farm Credit of the Virginias Knowledge Center Hosts Meeting on Alternative Feeding and Marketing Strategies for Beef Producers
BLACKSBURG, Va. (PRWEB) December 31, 2019 -- Given the current climate of the beef industry, the need to explore alternative strategies for feeding and marketing should be a primary consideration for producers. The Knowledge Center is pleased to offer this event for producers to hear from panelists about current practices and opportunities that they are imploring to diversify their own operations and those of the producers they work with.
Participants will hear from four industry panelists during the program, which include beef producers and industry professionals alike: Jason Wisecarver, Farm Credit Crop Insurance Specialist; Gabe Pent, Shenandoah Valley AREC Superintendent; Jeannie Layton-Dudding, Giles County Animal Science Extension Agent; and Callie Carson, Carson Family Farm.
Each speaker will provide an overview of their operation and share their expertise, followed by questions from participants. The speakers are prepared to share insight on alternative feeding techniques, ways to mitigate risk through insurance and LRPs, as well as alternative marketing options. The panelists are not only knowledgeable on these topics, but also imploring these strategies on their own beef operations.
Dinner will be served from 5-6pm with our program beginning at 6pm. The free event will be held at the Alphin-Stuart Livestock Arena located at 500 Plantation Road, Blacksburg, VA.
