Dallas, TX (PRWEB) July 12, 2013 -- In the wake of an April bus accident that killed three people, Tom Carse, a personal injury lawyer in Dallas, TX, says that bus drivers who may have been negligent – and the companies they work for – need to be held accountable for their actions.
According to an ABC 8 report (“Texas DPS recommends negligent homicide charge in Irving bus crash,” July 2), a Cardinal Coach Line bus transporting more than 40 senior citizens to an Oklahoma casino crashed when its driver allegedly failed to maintain his lane. Accident reports state that the bus hit a barrier, turned across lanes of traffic, and hit another barrier before toppling over.
“On a daily basis, bus drivers and their companies are responsible for the safety of every one of their passengers. Failure to do so can have tragic consequences,” said Carse, whose law firm represents victims of negligence and families who lost loved ones due to negligence.
The ABC 8 report states that three passengers were killed in the accident, with more than 40 other passengers sustaining various injuries. The Texas Department of Public Safety is recommending that the driver be charged with criminally negligent homicide.
Furthermore, the Dallas Morning News (“Texas DPS turns over fatal Irving bus crash case to Dallas DA,” July 2) reported that this was the second deadly accident that the bus driver allegedly was involved with. According to the story, the driver allegedly was involved in a fatal crash in 1998 that resulted in the accidental death of a good Samaritan at an accident scene.
A Texas grand jury declined to indict the driver on a charge of criminally negligent homicide and cleared him of all charges, according to both the Dallas Morning News and ABC 8 reports
.
“It’s the responsibility of the bus company and drivers alike to ensure their passengers arrive to their location safely,” said Carse, a Dallas bus accident lawyer. “Sometimes, it’s possible that even the smallest act of negligent behavior can cause a serious accident. If this is the case, the situation may call for a lawsuit against a negligent party. An experienced personal injury lawyer might be able to help fight for the compensation that accident victims deserve.”
