Advertising on Twitter has proved to be a very successful technique for both social media agencies and businesses alike. Investors should take advantage of this.

Online marketing firm fishbat responds to an article published by USA Today, which states that the popular social media network, Twitter, filed for an IPO on Thursday.

According to a September 13th article published in USA Today titled, “With a tweet, Twitter kicks off next big tech IPO,” Twitter announced that it has filed for an initial public offering. The company announced the news in true Twitter fashion by tweeting on the social media network, the article says. The tweet said, “We’ve confidently submitted an S-1 to the SEC for a planned IPO. This Tweet does not constitute an offer of any securities for sale.” The article says tweet quickly grabbed the attention of thousands, especially the venture capitalists who backed Twitter.

Twitter, which was created in 2006, has just recently starting generating revenue by displaying ads along with other tweets. According to the article, “Twitter will haul in $583 million in advertising revenue for 2013 and hit $1 billion in 2014, according to eMarketer.” Since its numbers are so high, filing for an IPO at this time makes sense, the article says. It is expected for Twitter “to hit the stock market by early December” and “Twitter’s IPO comes just as demand for IPOs is starting to heat up.”

Justin Maas, vice president of client relations at online marketing firm fishbat, says that he is excited to see the outcome of Twitter’s IPO.

“Twitter has become a giant social media network in just a few years, and with revenues growing so high, filing for an IPO now is a smart move,” he says. “Although Facebook’s IPO last year didn’t go as anticipated, I believe that Twitter’s IPO will be a success.”

Over the years Twitter has become a platform for many businesses to advertise and interact with consumers in a whole new way and according to Maas, “Advertising on Twitter has proved to be a very successful technique for both social media agencies and businesses alike. Investors should take advantage of this.”
