fishbat, a leader in social media agencies, responds to an article published on Mashable regarding the new Facebook update which allows users to edit posts.

According to a September 26th article published on Mashable titled, “Facebook Finally Lets You Edit Posts,” Facebook has finally made it possible for users to edit their status updates. The article states that, “the latest update for the Android Facebook app adds the ability to ‘edit your posts and comments and tap to see all your changes’”. The new feature however is not yet available for iOS but it’s expected to be seen in the next update.

Facebook was skeptical at first because of the potential of users to “bait-and-switch” their followers but they have determined the risks of this happening is minimal. To prevent this, “Facebook addresses this issue by marking the post as edited and letting users access the history of any edited post with a click.”

According to Justin Maas, vice president of client relations at social media agency fishbat, the ability to edit posts on Facebook has been long awaited. Maas says, “This new update is likely to have mainly positive feedback from users because it washes away the worries of typos and spelling errors.” The update has also made things much easier for social media agencies because now they can edit or correct posts without losing all previous interactions, which would have happened if the post had to be deleted. Maas says, “Facebook is continuing to become more user friendly with each update and by doing so it is allowing more businesses to use it as a marketing tool.”
