Latest update from Ken Fisher and Fisher Investments details their market forecast for the remainder of 2018

Fisher Investments released its latest Capital Markets Update video—a roundtable discussion with the five members of the firm’s Investment Policy Committee (IPC)—outlining their forecast for the remainder of 2018 and answering some common investor questions. The IPC is comprised of Executive Chairman and Co-Chief Investment Officer Ken Fisher, Vice Chairman and Co-Chief Investment Officer Jeff Silk, Executive Vice President of Portfolio Management Bill Glaser, Senior Vice President of Research Aaron Anderson and Senior Vice President of Research Michael Hanson. Collectively, the IPC oversees Fisher Investments' portfolio strategy, in-house research efforts, and capital markets technology development.

In the video, Fisher Investments’ team discusses why they expect the bull market to continue despite the volatility experienced in the first half of the year. They explain markets began 2018 with a bang—notching multiple new highs in the first half of January—before succumbing to a correction near month’s end. Media headlines attributed the sharp decline to a host of potential factors—inflation worries, tariff disputes, yield-curve inversions—all false fears Fisher Investments believes suppressed investor sentiment. As the fourth quarter of the year draws closer, stocks are back near their highs and Fisher Investments expects the bull market to resume its upwards march.

The video also details why Ken Fisher believes stocks will do particularly well as US midterm elections approach and pass. Likewise, he explains why the firm expects non-US stocks to lead US stocks—especially those in the Eurozone—as warming sentiment reveals better-than-expected economic fundamentals and growth. As fears of a disorderly European Union breakup ease and the end of quantitative easing lifts pressure on the yield curve, lending should improve and fuel European expansion.

While the full video is reserved for Fisher Investments’ clients, the firm posted several excerpts on its YouTube channel. To access the video excerpts, follow Fisher Investments’ YouTube Channel by clicking here:
