Tennessee Product Liability Law Firm Greg Coleman Law Files Putative Class Action Lawsuit Against Fluidmaster
KNOXVILLE, TN (PRWEB) August 19, 2014 -- Personal injury law firm, Greg Coleman Law, filed a class action lawsuit against Fluidmaster, Inc., (Fluidmaster) on July 23, 2014 in the United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania (Court). Fluidmaster is being sued because the company’s flagship product, NO-BURST® supply lines, has allegedly caused tens of thousands of dollars in damage in homes in Pennsylvania and potentially across the country.
Greg Coleman Law is pursuing this class action lawsuit on behalf of homeowners who have purchased and installed NO-BURST® steel supply lines or who live in homes where they are installed. Homeowners have suffered water damage, structural damage and have lost furniture and electronics when allegedly defective pipes burst. The complaint, case number 2:14-cv-00994-LPL, alleges that Fluidmaster, as the manufacturer of NO-BURST® braided steel supply pipelines, has sold and marketed defective stainless steel supply lines. The complaint, including the request for class action certification, was filed on July 23, 2014 in the United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania
The complaint alleges that the company’s steel braided supply lines are defective because they are made of an “inferior grade of stainless steel that is susceptible to corrosion from everyday household cleaners.” This susceptibility, allegedly, causes the supply lines to spontaneously rupture.
Homeowners, the complaint asserts, are living with supply lines that “are inevitable failures waiting to happen, with the potential to cause a range of damages including catastrophic flooding and property destruction.” More importantly, the complaint details that the company was aware of the defects, continued to sell the defective supply lines and failed to compensate homeowners for the damage caused by bursting pipes in the supply lines.
The named plaintiffs in the case are Pennsylvania homeowners Jeff Hungerman and Jared Sanborn. Though only two named plaintiffs are listed in the complaint, this is a putative class action lawsuit awaiting class action certification status.
The steel supply lines are used to move water from the water pipe to plumbing fixtures such as toilets or faucets. When these lines rupture, the complaint alleges, a homeowner’s entire house may flood. Additional problems discussed in the complaint include damage to electrical systems, damage to household goods and increased risk of electrocution as the electrical system is fixed.
Fluidmaster steel braided supply lines are sold at Amazon.com, Walmart, Lowe’s and Home Depot. Since the supply lines are available across the nation, the potential class of individuals who own Fluidmaster braided steel supply lines numbers in the thousands.
