Woodbridge Insurance Services, a regional provider of insurance and financial planning assistance serving families and entrepreneurs in the greater Washington DC metropolitan region, is joining the Action in Community Through Service organization in a charity drive to raise funds for a Hunger Prevention Center in Woodbridge.

The Action in Community Through Service (ACTS) organization operates a series of programs that help provide food to families in the region struggling with food insecurity. Additionally, ACTS offers residents in need access to temporary shelter, assistance with domestic or sexual violence, and a suicide prevention program for families and individuals in crisis.

“This year 660,884 pounds of food has already been distributed, with the help of 827 volunteers and we know we can double this. We are one community, and we are ready to help,” says Joseph Cotten, founder and chief executive of Woodbridge Insurance Services.

Efforts by Woodbridge Insurance to raise public awareness of the ongoing ACTS charity effort has included social media and email outreach and awareness campaign to gather broad support from neighboring communities. Additional efforts to gain publicity for the event are set to include a new article featuring ACTS programs, which will appear in the newest edition of the Woodbridge Insurance Services local interest webzine “Our Hometown”: http://www.woodbridgeins.com/Our-Hometown-Magazine_39.

Cotten and the Woodbridge Insurance team have assisted a number of noteworthy charities and nonprofits serving communities in and around DC since the firm became a regional representative of the “Agents of Change” movement last summer. Going forward, the Woodbridge team is focused on assisting at least one new regional charity every 90 days.

Woodbridge Insurance Services has produced the following page to provide information to readers who would like to join ACTS and assist in the funding of a new Hunger Prevention Center for underprivileged families: http://www.woodbridgeins.com/ACTing-the-Right-Way_17_community_cause.
