The producers of Forbes Living are proud to announce that a PSA from Stop Soldier Suicide will be featured in an upcoming episode. In an effort to raise awareness about Veteran suicide, and join the fight to save those who fight to save us.

The War on Terror has been one of the toughest a U.S. service member has ever had to face, and not just in the war zone. Many Veterans come home to lost jobs, strained relationships, financial woes, and a troubled housing market, not to mention post-traumatic stress—though most are ashamed to admit having mental health issues. Too proud to seek help, countless active duty service members and Veterans take their own lives, seeing no other way out of their suffering.

According to News21, Veterans commit suicide at double and sometimes triple the rate of civilians. In the past 4 years alone, there have been over 30,000 military suicides—at least 22 Veterans and 1 active duty service member a day. As military suicide reached epidemic proportions, Stop Soldier Suicide was formed to help Veterans and active duty members in their greatest hour of need.

“Post-traumatic stress is the most common mental health diagnosis among Veterans, yet fewer than half of those affected seek help,” said COO of Stop Soldier Suicide Nick Black, who has encountered military suicide firsthand. “We believe we all have a responsibility to help our brothers and sisters in arms who suffer from the deepest wounds of war before they feel their only choice is taking their own lives.”

The emotional 30 second spot alerts viewers to the growing epidemic of military suicide and what they can do to save a life, possibly their own. Forbes Living TV, which will also feature Stop Soldier Suicide partner YOGAJACK, has long been a champion of the American dream and recognizes that it’s the troops who keep that dream alive.

“My brother is a Lieutenant Colonel and my nephew is a West Point graduate and a Platoon Leader, and both have served in Iraq, and both have shared many stories of the trauma soldiers face and the toll it takes on them mentally,” said Lisa Vrancken, Senior V.P. of Production at Forbes Living. “When every hour we’re losing someone who valiantly fought for our country, it is our duty to fight for them now. It’s going to take an army of people to fight this epidemic, and the Forbes army is ready for battle!”

The show plans to begin airing the PSA during an upcoming episode on Friday, March 27th at 7 am ET/PT on WE tv™.
